Spiced beer
Spiced beer is a beer containing the flavors of one or more spices. Spices may be added to the wort during the boil or spices or spice extracts may be added during fermentation. Many commerically produced winter ales are spiced beers.
Typical brewing spices include:
- Anise
- Cinnamon
- Coriander
- Ginger
- Hot pepper
- Juniper berries or boughs
- Licorice
- Orange peel
- Spruce needles or twigs
- Yarrow
