The Spanish people or Spaniards are an ethnic group native to Spain, in southwestern Europe, who are primarily descended from a variety of ancient peoples: the autochthonous pre-Indo-European Euskaldunak, Celtic (Celtiberians), Visigothic, Latin, and Moorish peoples. They are most commonly associated with the Spanish language.
There are around 31.6 million people native speakers of Castilian Spanish in Spain, and a total of 42.5 million of the Spanish nationality.
Their descendants are also present in the millions and thousands throughout the Hispanic nations of Latin America, the Philippines and Equatorial Guinea in the form of creoles, mestizos and mulattos. Hispanic Americans are also founded in the United States of America where their collective numbers constitute a quarter of the population.
