Sool

Sool is a region (gobolka) in northern Somalia, and was formerly part of the British Somaliland protectorate. Its capital is Laascaanood. It is bordered by Ethiopia and the Somalian regions of Togdheer, Sanaag, Bari and Nugaal.

Sool is claimed by the two self-proclaimed but internationally-unrecognized states of Somaliland and Puntland. Along with Sanaag, Sool has been a bone of contention between Somaliland and Puntland.
