The genus Soldanella, commonly known in English as snow-bells, includes 15 species in the flowering plant family Primulaceae, ten of which are native to Europe, from the Pyrenees to the Apennines and Alps and as far east as Albania. They live well in damp pastures and rocky landscapes up to 3,000 m above sea level.
They typically have a basal rosette of simple, orbicular leaves from which the flower stalks arise, each bearing 1 – 2 (-3?) flowers.
