Slovak Telecom

(Redirected from Slovenske telekomunikacie)

Slovak Telecom (till early 2004 officially called Slovenské telekomunikácie) is a telecommunications monopoly company operating in Slovakia. It is majority owned (51 percent) by Germany's Deutsche Telekom. The remaining share is owned by Slovakia's Ministry of Transport, Posts and Telecommunications, which owns 34 percent, and the National Property Fund of the Slovak Republic, which owns 15 percent.

The result of the company's policy after its takeover by Deutsche Telekom are the highest telecom prices in CEE and the violation of contracts (signed before the takeover) stipulating the amount to be invested into the company by Deutsche Telekom.
