Siapo

A siapo is a Samoan picture handicraft which is made from soaked and beaten mulberry bark, and when dry patterns or pictures are painted on with a natural brown dye. Examples of pictures depicted are: fish, turtles, hibiscus flowers. Siapos are also made in other pacific islands for example, the Cook islands, Tonga, Fiji (where it is known as a tapa).
