Shola Ameobi

Foluwashola (Shola) Ameobi (born October 12, 1981 in Zaria, Nigeria) is an English-Nigerian football player. He currently plays for Newcastle United in the English Premiership as a centre forward.

Ameobi signed for the Newcastle United Academy on 1st of July 1995, but did not make his debut for the senior team until 5 years later, 1st of September 2000, in a home game against Chelsea. He made 22 appearances for Newcastle that season, aided by injuries to first choice strike partnership Alan Shearer and Carl Cort. His reputation has continued to grow on Tyneside, and he is currently contracted to the club until 2006.
