Shock metal

Shock metal is a genre of heavy metal music that was popular during the 1980's.

This genre was often characterized by dramatic and outrageous stage performances and performers dressed in extravagant and outlandish costumes which often included make-up.

The shock metal style was popularized by music videos on MTV.

Artists in this genre include Alice Cooper, KISS, Quiet Riot, King Diamond and Twisted Sister.
