Shelbourne F.C.

Shelbourne F.C. is an Irish football club playing in the Football League of Ireland. The club, founded in 1895, play their home matches at Tolka Park, in the north Dublin suburb of Drumcondra. The club colours are red and white, and the club goes by the nickname of "Shels" or "The Real Reds".

They have been one of the more successful clubs in the league and have won several championships, association cups, and league cups. Also they have made it to European competitions several times including their UEFA Champions League run in 2004.

European Football

Shelbourne have a long illustrious history in European competitions, taking on greats such as Rangers, Atlético Madrid, Brøndby and Rosenborg. In the 2004/2005 European season, they made history, becoming the first Irish domestic club to reach the third round of the UEFA Champions League. They won on away goals against KR Reykjavík, won 3–2 against Croatian team Hajduk Split, only to lose against Spanish giants, Deportivo La Coruna 3–0, despite a heroic 0–0 draw in Lansdowne Road. That season they also had the longest European run in Irish history, being entered into the UEFA Cup, only to lose 4–2 to French side Lille, after drawing 2–2 at home
