Shadmehr

Shadmehr Aghili (born 1973) is an Iranian musician, singer, and composer.

He was born in Tehran. His father died when he was only a school student, and young Shadmehr started the music learning by his brother and mother's encouragement. He learned playing piano and violin just before 12th year of his life. Then after Iran's revolution he entered "the school of arts" in Tehran and in a short time showed a great intelligence in composing and playing music. After receiving music diploma, when pop music was forbidden in Iran, Shadmehr entered the "music school of television". In about 1995 the first "allowed" pop music after revolution played from official TV of Iran, which was a dramatic music by Ahmad Shamlou's poem and by Khashayar Etemadi's voice. This music is called as "pop music relieve" after revolution.

In a short time too many music (for other singers) composed by Shadmehr, and finally in 1997, his first album was presented, Bahareman ("My spring"), which was a collection of classic and folkloric music played by Shadmehr (violin guitar piano keyboard) and managed by himself. In the same year people heard his voice in Mabood, his first vocal music, and after then he continued works that resulted in Mosafer ("The traveler"), the first complete vocal album which was named as best album in the history of pop music in Iran by many music masters. In 1999 he made Dehati ("The villager") which started his problems. An album with rock'n'roll, 6'n'8 and popular works. After this none of his works has been allowed to play in TV and present as album, especially the album Adam o havva ("Adam & Eve"). In these years (1999–2002) he acted in two musical movies and worked for many other artists as player, composer and manager. After these problems in 2002 he migrated to Canada in order to start new works far from the pressure of Iran's government. Khiali nist ("No worry", 2003) and Adamforoush ("Traitor", 2004) are his last albums published in Canada and the U.S.
