Severodvinsk

Severodvinsk (Северодви́нск) is a city in Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the delta of Northern Dvina, at 64°34′ N 39°49′ E.

Town since 1938. Before 1957 it was named Molotovsk (Мо́лотовск).

Population 223,500 (2002).

There is the main Russian naval base for nuclear submarines, and also major submarine construction and repairing facilities.
