Sayla Mass

Sayla Mass is a fictional character from the anime series Gundam. At the beginning of the Mobile Suit Gundam TV series, Sayla is a civilian of Side 7, who abroad the White Base along with Amuro Ray, Fraw Bow and Hayato Kobayashi.

Sayla Mass has has some secret past which revealed in the later episodes. She is looking for her Brother Edward Mass, whom she affectionately called Casval. Her brother is better known to Gundam fans as The Red Comet – Char Aznable. Sayla true identity is Artesia Rom Daikun, sister to Casval Rem Daikun and the daughter of Zeon Zum Daikun, the founder of the Republic of Zeon, who was assassinated by Degwin Sodo Zabi, the leader of Principality of Zeon.

Sayla, like Amuro Ray, is also a Newtype. Toward the end of the original Gundam series Char ask her leave battlefield and to go to Amuro. Given somewhat intimate scenes toward the end involving Amuro, the fact that Fraw Bow is married to Hayato Kobayashi and Amuro previous attachment to other Newtype, such as Lalah Sune. The series creater Tomino Yoshiyuki may originally intended to use Sayla as Amuro's soulmate in the later series, but there is no clear indication. In Char's Counter Attack, Amuro girlfrind appeared to be Chan, Sayla doesn't feature in the movie.
