Royal Canadian Geographical Society
The Royal Canadian Geographical Society is dedicated to imparting a broader knowledge and deeper appreciation of Canada its people and places, its natural and cultural heritage and its environmental, social and economic challenges. The RCGS publishes the award-winning English-language magazine, Canadian Geographic which has been published continuously since 1930. The Societys french language magazine, géographica, which is published in collaboration with L'actualité, was introduced in 1997.
The Canadian Council for Geographic Education (CCGE) is a joint initiative of The Royal Canadian Geographical Society and the National Geographic Society of Washington, D.C. established in 1993.
The programs of the CCGE aim to strengthen geographic education in the classroom. In addition to increasing the emphasis on geography within the school system, the CCGE endeavours to increase the public awareness of the importance of geographical literacy.
