Rose Maylie

Rose Maylie is the heroine of Charles Dickens' novel Oliver Twist.

Maylie is the adopted daughter of Mrs. Maylie. Kags and Sikes, two thieves, break into her house, accompanied by Oliver. Oliver is shot by the Maylie's butler, Giles, and is left for dead by Kags and Sikes, but Oliver begs the Maylies to help him and he wins the hearts of the family. One of the most touching scenes in the book is where Rose gets very sick, and nearly dies, but recovers. A the end it is discovered that she is the sister of Oliver's dead mother.

Rose Maylie is completely omitted from the musical Oliver! and the film thereof.
