Rope splicing

Rope splicing is the act of weaving the strands of a rope to another one or to itself creating a clean end for a rope (the crown splice), a loop of the rope or to join two ropes to each other.

Splicing two ropes to each other makes the union usually more durable and stronger, even though it is harder to disassemble it.
