Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte is an ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the southern United States comprised of the western piedmont and mountain regions of the state of North Carolina. It is led by a prelate bishop which serves as pastor of the motherchurch, Cathedral of Saint Patrick in the City of Charlotte.
The diocese was canonically erected on November 12, 1971 by Pope Paul VI and took its territories from the neighboring Diocese of Raleigh.
