Roland Beamont
Roland Beamont DSO OBE DFC, was a British fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. Flying Hawker Tempests while stationed at Newchurch, Kent, he scored notable successes against the German pilotless V-1 flying bomb.
With the end of hostilities he became a test pilot, performing the initial test flying of many notable aircraft, including: English Electric Canberra English Electric Lightning as well as the later-cancelled BAC TSR.2
