Rock Goddess
An all-female New Wave Of British Heavy Metal band that briefly enjoyed cult status in the early 1980s formed by sisters Jody (guitar) and Julie Turner (drums) when they were 13 and 9 years old respectively. They recruited school friend Tracey Lamb on bass and rehearsed intensively. The Turner's father John ran a music shop and used his connections to get the band gigs and finally in 1982 a record contract with A&M. Their eponymous debut was released in 1983, and with the band picking up a strong cult following, things looked promising for the future. Lamb however became disgruntled at the domination of the Turners, quitting to form SHE. She was replaced by Dee O'Malley and follow up album HELL HATH NO FURY was released in 1984, and the band co-headlined with Y&T on a UK tour. The band's rise was cut short by financial and contractural problems which forced them to disband shortly after.
A reformation was attempted in 1987 but comeback album YOUNG AND FREE was not released and the project was abandoned.
