Road To Ruin was the Ramones' fourth album, released on Friday, September 22, 1978, and witnessed the band undergoing an altogether more "classic" pop sound. The influence of the 60's girl groups is in evidence, not to mention the hints of Byrdesque jangle heard on tracks like "Don't Come Close" and the highly emotional cover of The Searchers original; "Needles And Pins".
There is nonetheless plenty of room for The Ramones' trademark whirlwhind clatter smash, evident on tracks such as "I Just Want To Have Something To Do" and "Bad Brain" though on this outing the Ramones' sound is lent a clearer edge with some punchy production.
The album also contains the track "I Wanna Be Sedated", one of the bands' most popular and beloved tunes.
