Regions of Norway

Norway is divided into five different major regions (landsdel):

• Sørlandet
• Østlandet
• Vestlandet
• Trøndelag
• Nord-Norge

These divisions are by convention, based on geographical and also dialectical differences. Administratively, these regions play less of a role – the major administrative units are at county level.
