Red-violet is a color made by mixing the hues red and violet, so it might be seen as either a darker red or a lighter violet. Red-violet is part of the red analogous color group, which also includes red, red-orange, orange, violet, and blue. It is classified as a "Warm color", or colors that produces a feeling of warmth (as opposed to "Cool colors"). The complementary color of red-violet is approximately aquamarine. Red-violet is an intermediate or tertiary color and, along with yellow-orange and green-blue, forms a color wheel triad group.
