Rec.sport.pro-wrestling

The title of this article is incorrect because of technical limitations. The correct title is rec.sport.pro-wrestling.

rec.sport.pro-wrestling, or RSPW, is an older and heavily trafficked Usenet newsgroup dedicated to the discussion of professional wrestling and doubles as a forum for like-minded individuals to discuss other topics of interest, including music, sports, and pop culture. RSPW received its first post in 1990, and tabulated over 33,000 messages at its peak month in 1998. It mimics real wrestling by posters creating their own gimmicks, feuds, organizations, fantasy tournaments/matches and so forth.

Wrestling personalities who have frequented RSPW from time to time include Brian Pillman, Marc Mero, Nicole Bass, "Hurricane" Shane Helms, Bob Holly, and a variety of lesser-known personalities from various smaller wrestling promotions.

Despite the near monopoly in the USA by the WWE, rec.sport.pro-wrestling also covers TNA, small independent federations, wrestling from Japan, and combat sports such as K-1, UFC, and PRIDE.
