Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)

"Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)" was the debut solo single for Motown legend Diana Ross, released in 1970. Ross had just left the Supremes and had went through a difficult situation trying to piece a solo album together. With Ashford & Simpson writing and producing for her, Ross charged on a very emotional and soulful piece that was ironically one of the first social messages that the singer had began delivering in her music. While the song didn't hold on to expectations peaking at #20 on the pop charts (it did went to #7 on the R&B charts) and sold 500,000 copies, it soon became one of Ross' most notable songs and one of her best concert showstoppers as she often had the whole crowd touch hands with her during the performance.
