Features and Problems
The following is a summary of ReGet Deluxe v4.1.
Pros
- Has a clean looking GUI
- Has a simple interface, with "Simple Mode", "Advanced Mode", and "Expert Mode"
- Interfaces well with a wide range of web browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and higher, Netscape Communicator 4.0 (and Mozilla) and higher, Opera 4.0 and higher, NetCaptor 6.1, NeoPlanet 5.2, MSN Explorer 6.0
- Has a FTP browser
- Can store your user name and password
Annoyances
- Changes your download folder icon, overwriting your own preferences. In most case this will not be an issues, but it can be annoying if you have already specified an icon for your download folder.
- Keeps a translucent icon on the bottom right of your screen whenever the program is running, regardless of weather you are doing any Internet related activities at all. This can be disabled, however.
- Only sometimes catches downloads when not running
- Only available for Windows
Problems
- Does not download from content management systems like PHP-Nuke and PostNuke, or Source Forge making downloading programs a challenge on complex or bloated websites. Instead of accepting the file as it should, it tries to download the 'module.php' file or some similar file that dispenses and redirects the browser to the correct file.
