Ray Perkins

Ray Perkins ( born Starkville, Mississippi circa 1943 ) was an american football player and coach.

He attended the University of Alabama, playing football 1962–64. He was Captain of the undefeated 1966 team that was ranked number one in college football.

He played for Baltimore Colts as a wide receiver 1965–1970.

He was head coach of the New York Giants 1979–1982 building the team that Coach "Tuna" Bill Parcells won the super bowl with in 1984.

Following Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant the winningest coach in football history, Ray Perkins became head coach at the University of Alabama 1983–1986 and had a team record 32–15–1 record (with team also winning 3 bowl games).
