Ray Olmedo
Rainer Gustavo "Ray" Olmedo (born May 31, 1981 in Maracay, Aragua State, Venezuela) is a Major League Baseball shortstop who has played plays for the San Francisco Giants (2003) and Cincinnati Reds (2004). He is a switch-hitter batter and throws right-handed.
In 79 games Olmedo has batted .239 (55–230), with 17 RBI, 24 runs, six doubles, one triple and one stolen base.
Note
- Shortstop Barry Larkin will not be offered another contract by Cincinnati, ending his 19-year tenure with his hometown team. The Reds have tried for several years to develop his successor, but no one has played well enough to earn the job. Larkin said the Reds told him that they want to develop young shortstops Andy Machado, Ray Olmedo and Felipe López rather than bring him back in 2005.
