Rauf Orbay
Huseyin Rauf Orbay (1881–1964) was a Turkish soldier and statesman, born in Istanbul. He served as a naval officer in Ottoman Navy, he was the captain of Hamidiye Battleship during the 1st World War, as the Minister of Navy , he signed Mondros ceasefire treaty in October 31st, 1918. When the Turkish War of Independence was started ,he resigned from his position and he came to Ankara to work with Kemal Atatürk and selected as a member of the representative committee in the Congress of Erzurum on 23rd July,1919. He joined to the Congress of Sivas as Sivas delegate on 4th September, 1919 and was selected to the helper chairman. When the war has ended and the republic was declared he became a rival to Kemal Atatürk and Ismet Inönü and objected to the declaration of the republic, because of that he found a nation wide response. Rauf Orbay died on 16th July, 1964 because of heart crisis.
