Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina

Raleigh-Durham is not a single city, but rather two separate ones in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The twin cities (along with the adjancent towns of Chapel Hill and Cary and small suburbs) form a single metro area, most often known as the Research Triangle or simply "the Triangle." The term "Raleigh-Durham" is never used by natives.

Confusion over the name "Raleigh-Durham" from non-natives often stems from the name of Raleigh-Durham International Airport, which lies between the two cities. See:
