Rail current pylon

This article or section should be merged with overhead lines.

A rail current pylon is a pylon at that at least one electric circuit for traction current is accommodated. In Germany for traction current lines with two systems (4 conductor cables) as a rule traction current masts with a level arrangement of the conductor cables are used. With traction current lines with four systems (8 conductor cables) frequently the two-level arrangement (ever 4 conductor cables per level) with exception of traction current lines for new and developed roads is used. For these lines a three-level arrangement is used, with which on the lowest cross beam four and on the two highest cross beams two conductor cables each are. The three-level arrangement is used also for traction current masts with 6 electric circuits (12 conductor cables). Besides there is – in particular to the supply of rapid-transit railways operated with alternating current – also also overhead line mast with cross beams for traction current lines above the contact wire. Exists also overhead line mast, which carries both electric circuits for traction current, and for three-phase alternating current.
