Raditz

Raditz (ラディッツ Radittsu) is a fictional character in the manga Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z and the anime Dragon Ball Z. He is a Saiyan whose name is a pun of Radish.

Raditz is the biological brother of Son Goku and the son of Bardock. While working on a team lead by Vegeta, Raditz traveled to Earth, from Planet Vegeta to find out why Son Goku hasn't finished the mission that he was sent on as a baby: the overthrow of Earth. Upon arrival however, Raditz discovered that Son Goku's has lost his Saiyan violent tendencies and also has no knowledge of his ancestry or his true species. Raditz attempted to persuade Goku to join him and take over the planet, but to no avail.

After Goku's refusal, Raditz kidnapped Son Gohan and locked up the young partial Saiyan in a space pod. However, Raditz's plan backfired when Son Goku formed a temporary alliance with the then evil Piccolo and together they attempted to defeat Raditz. The two fighters fought in vain against the Saiyan, until Son Gohan broke free of the Space Pod and attacked Raditz, cracking his armour, dealing damage, and allowing Goku to restrain Raditz while Piccolo performs his Special Beam Cannon. Piccolo's attack was just powerful enough to blast completely through Raditz's cracked armour and Goku, killing both.

Just prior to his death, Raditz was successful in contacting his teammates and fellow Saiyans Nappa and Vegeta.
