Rebab

The rebab is a musical string instrument which was heavily used in old Arabic music its considered as part of the Lute familiy (Oud in Arabic). Rebab was very used in old Andalusian classical music and still is, especially in Morocco. It has evolved in neighbouring Europe countries into the Rebec which is considered as the ancestor of the violin family.
Rebab origin are in Arabia and Persia and its influence has reached a major part of Asia, as far as Indonesia, Africa and Europe.
