Operating out of studios based at Efstaleiti 1, 150 Reykjavík, Iceland, it broadcasts a mixture of general programming to a very wide audience across the whole country on two radio stations and one tv station.

The RUV carries arts, media and current affairs programming, as well as sports, news, documentaries and children's programming. They also have a news bulletin broadcast in Táknmál (Manual Sign Language) and various other content.
