Province of Palermo

Palermo (It. Provincia di Palermo) is a province in the autonomous island region of Sicily in Italy. Its capital is the city of Palermo.

It has an area of 4,992 sq km, and a total population of 1,235,923 (2001). There are 82 communes in the province (source: Italian institute of statistics Istat, see this link).
