Table of contents

Birth

Princess Eugenie was born on March 23, 1990 at the Portland Hospital in London. Her father is HRH The Prince Andrew, Duke of York, the third child and second son of Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Her mother is Sarah, Duchess of York, (née Sarah Ferguson), the daughter of Major Ronald Ferguson.

As a granddaughter of the British monarch in the male line, Eugenie is styled Princess of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with the style Her Royal Highness.

Education

Princess Eugenie is currently attending Marlborough College in Wiltshire, enrolled under the name "Eugenie York."

Health

In October 2002 Princess Eugenie, then aged twelve, underwent surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London for back surgery to prevent her scoliosis from worsening. She since has made a full recovery, and is not expected to undergo any further surgery.

Homelife

Following the divorce of her parents, the Duke and Duchess of York when Princess Eugenie was only 6, she spends her time equally with both parents. All the York family currently reside at Sunninghill Park in Ascot.

It had been suggested that Princess Eugenie and her sister, HRH Princess Beatrice of York be stripped of their royal status as a "downsizing" of the Royal Family, becoming "Lady Beatrice Windsor" and "Lady Eugenie Windsor," the style for children of non-royal dukes. However, their father, the Duke of York is strongly opposed to this idea.
