Pozen Conference

Merge with Posen Conference

The Pozen Conference was a gathering of top Nazi officials in late 1943. This conference had been called at Hitler's order as part of his 'Total War' strategy. The intent was to let everyone present know about the 'Final Solution' and the other war crimes being committed by the SS and other agencies of the Nazi Party in Occupied Europe. This was done in order to motivate everyone present to fight harder for victory as they would not be able to claim ignorance of war crimes and Nazi atrocities should Germany be defeated. This conference is the strongest piece of evidence tieing Albert Speer to knowing about the Final Solution – something he had denied at the Nuremburg Trial. The minutes of the conference suggest that Speer was present during the time that the revelations were made (Martin Bormann referred to Speer as being present), but Speer himself and a close colleague asserted that he was not present at that portion of the conference.
