Post-secondary education

Post-secondary education is a form of secondary education that is taken after first attending a secondary school, such as a high school. The purpose of a post-secondary education can be to receive vocational education and training or to prepare for a tertiary education. Post-secondary education in itself is not a form of either tertiary or higher education.

Examples of institutions that provide post-secondary education are community colleges in the United States, the TAFEs in Australia, CEGEPs in Quebec (Canada) and the IEKs in Greece.

The term can also be used to tertiary and quaternary education and associated institutions, especially in Canada.
