Pope Anastasius III
Anastasius III, pope from September 911 to November 913, was a Roman by birth. He was allegedly the illegitimate son of his predecessor Pope Sergius III.
Practically nothing is recorded of him, his pontificate falling in the period when Rome and the Papacy were in the power of Theophylact, Count of Tusculum and his wife Marozia, who approved Anastasius' candidacy.
