Poma

Poma are a leading cable transportation (aerial lift) company and have supplied more than 7,500 installations in 69 countries on all 5 continents.

The POMA Group has more than a hundred years' expertise in cable transportation.

The company AGUDIO, now POMA ITALIA, was established in 1860 by the engineer Tommaso Agudio, a widely respected technician who decided to specialise in the design of cable-propelled lifting and transportation devices. He built the first passenger transportation funiculars, then moved on to manufacturing passenger elevators, goods elevators, cable conveyors for goods transportation and finally cable cars.

Today, the POMA Group employs approximately 750 staff worldwide.

POMA produces: • ski tows • fixed and detachable grip chairlifts seating 2 to 8, • gondola lifts for 4 to 25 passengers, • detachable grip two-way cable cars, • goods ropeways, • cableways used in dam construction and civil engineering, • inclined elevators, • shuttle elevators • funiculars • urban transportation shuttles, other shuttles, APM's, fully automatic and on dedicated guideways • minimetros

In recent years POMA's competitors, as a result of mergers and bankcrptcies, have resulted POMA's main competition being the equally large Austrian firm Doppelmayr.

POMA are located in Voreppe Cedex, France.
