Phill Kline
Phill Kline is an American politician. He is a Republican, currently serving as Attorney General of Kansas since January 2003.
Kline was born in Kansas City in 1961. He attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg where he earned a degree in business communications. He received a law degree from the University of Kansas in 1986 and entered private practice, settling in the suburban community of Shawnee, Kansas. He also managed a radio station.
Kline was a member of the Kansas House of Representatives from 1993 to 2000, where he was known as a staunch conservative. Kline ran unsuccessfully against incumbent Congressman Dennis Moore in 2000, but was elected to Attorney General in 2002, defeating Chris Biggs of Junction City.
In January of 2005, Kline announced that he was considering challenging Democratic incumbent governor Kathleen Sebelius in the 2006 election.
