Philip III of Navarre

Philip III of Navarre and Philip of Evreux (1301 – 1343) – Philippe, comte d'Évreux in Fr. – was the elder son of Louis, comte d’Évreux (1276 – 1319), and Marguerite d’Artois (1285 – 1311), and therefore a grandson of King Philip III of France. Because of this descent, he was a possible heir to the throne of France.

In due course, he inherited the comté of Évreux, in Normandy, from his father (1319), and ten years later he became Felipe III, king consort of Navarre, by virtue of his marriage to Queen Juana II of Navarre. She held extensive fiefdoms in northern France, as well as Navarre. Because of their lands and their many royal relatives, Philip and his wife were influential in both France and Navarre. They produced 8 children.
