Pfeiffera is a genus of cactus named after Ludwig Pfeiffer.
Distribution
Pfeifferas live in Bolivia and northern Argentina.
Description
These are small cacti with few ramifications, some are even epiphytes (but with no aerian root). The trunk is green or green-red, with a length of 25 to 30 cm and a diameter of 2 cm. The plant has 4 to 7 ribs.
Flowers are diurnal do not open wide. They measure around 2 cm in length and 1.5 cm in diameter. Fruits are violet-brownish when ripe, spherical, pellucid and spiny. They measure 1 cm in diameter.
