The Peugeot 206 is a car manufactured by Peugeot. It was launched in 1998 as replacement for the 205. It is mainly manufactured in Peugeot's Poissy and Mulhouse factory although some versions are made at Ryton in Coventry, England.

It was initially sold as a hatchback with 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6 litre petrol engines and a 1.9 litre turbocharged diesel engine. In 1999 a 2.0 GTI capable of 130 mph was added to the range. There was also the GTI 180 engine, capable of over 220 km/h (140 mph). In 2001, two more versions of the 206 were launched – the 206 CC (Coupe Cabriolet) with a folding steel roof and the 206 SW (Sports Wagon) which was a 5 seater mini MPV.

The Peugeot 206 has proved to be a sales success all over Europe. In 2002, it was the second best selling car in the UK.

The marketing of the Peugeot 206 has also been greatly assisted by the considerable successes of the Peugeot rally team in the World Rally Championship in recent years.
