Pentium Extreme Edition

Pentium Extreme Edition is the brand name given to a series of Intel microprocessors introduced during the Spring 2005 Intel Developers Forum. The processor is based on the Smithfield core, but it has Hyperthreading enabled, thus any operating system will see 4 logical processors (2 x 2 physical cores). The processor also supports EM64T and the NX bit. It also has an unlocked multiplier to allow for Overclocking. Early performance reports state that the processor is stable up to 3.8 GHz with air cooling. The Pentium Extreme Edition was released in early 2005, at a price point of $999.99 (OEM) or $1,200 (Retail).
