Pieter-Dirk Uys

Pieter-Dirk Uys is a South African playwright, satirist and political activist. He was critical of Apartheid and now he travels to schools in South Africa teaching children about AIDS and condoms. He is an Afrikaner and gay. His act often involves playing characters in drag. When in drag, his alter ego is Evita Bezuidenhout, the ambassadress of Bapetikosweti (a fictional country, satirisng the Bantustan "homelands", such as Bophutatswana, that were an integral aspect of the South African Government's policy of Apartheid.)
