Patriarch of the East Indies
The Patriarch of the East Indies in the Roman Catholic hierarchy is a title of the the Archbishop of Goa and Daman in India; another title of the archbishop is the Primate of the East. Unlike the sui juris patriarchs of Eastern Rite churches, Patriarch of the East Indies is a purely honorary title, fully subject to the pope and a member of the Latin Rite, similar to the Patriarchs of Venice and Lisbon. The Patriarch of the East Indies is a rare case in the Latin Rite of an Archbishop who is not also a Metropolitan bishop, as there are no other dioceses in the Goa and Daman province.
