An abbreviation for maxi pad, sanitary napkin (US), or "towel" (UK).
One of the transliterations of the fourth syllable in the Buddhist "six syllable mantra": Om mani padme hum.
In rocketry, pad is short for launch pad, the platform from which an orbital vehicle is launched.
A pad on which helicopters land is called a Helipad.
References to different type of pads in computing, e.g. programs like Notepad and WordPad, and the physical mousepad.
