Owain

Owain may refer to any of several Welshmen:

  • Owain mab Urien (or Owein) (d. circa 595) was the son of Urien, king of Rheged c. 590 AD, and fought with his father against the Angles of Bernicia.
  • Owain Gwynedd (in English, "Owen") (c. 1100 – November 28, 1170), alternatively known by the patronymic "Owain ap Gruffydd", is considered to be the most successful of all the north Welsh princes prior to his grandson, Llywelyn the Great.
  • Owain Glyndwr, sometimes anglicised as Owen Glendower (1359–c. 1416), was the last Welshman to hold the title Prince of Wales, and was a descendant of the princes of Powys.
