Ortler (3905m), highest mountain in the Eastern Alps, main peak of the Ortler Group, a mountain range in South Tyrol and Trentino, Italy. Before World War I it was the top of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. It was first climbed by a local huntsman, Josef Pichler ("Pseirer-Josele") on 27 September 1804.
