Orpheus was a legendary ancient Greek musician. The name Orpheus later took on some other meanings:
- Orpheus is a hypothesized Mars-sized planet that collided with the Earth 4.5 billion years ago, possibly creating the Moon. It is also called Theia.
- Orpheus is a large New Orleans Carnival Krewe, founded in 1993. The Orpheus parade takes place on Lundi Gras night, the night before Mardi Gras.
- Orpheus is a Carnival Krewe in Mandeville, Louisiana, which first paraded in 1988. The parade in Mandeville the Friday before Mardi Gras.
- Orpheus is the translation into English of the title of the movie Orphée directed by Jean Cocteau in 1949.
- Black Orpheus (Orfeu Negro) is a 1959 Brazilian film by French director Marcel Camus
- Orfeu is a 1999 Brazilian film by Brazilian director Carlos Diegues.
