Omar Mukhtar

Omar Mukhtar (aka Omar Al-Mukhtar) was the leader of the resistance movement against the Italian occupation of Libya in the 1920s and 1930s. He was executed in 1931. His final years were immortalized in the movie The Lion of the Desert (1981).
